Translating portfolio page using Argent + PolyLang
-
Hi.
I’m part-way through a translation of my site from French into English. I have duplicated the content, and translated some of it, but I’m a bit stuck as I originally set it up to use portfolios (as being more logical than blog posts for a commercial site). My original “portfolio” page was called “Réalisations” but used the slug jonsenior.com/portfolio which caused Argent to treat it as a portfolio page. I’ve tried creating a new page containing the “[portfolio]” tag but this displays portfolios differently from the original page.
My question is… in a multilingual site, is it possible to have multiple pages which all get treated magically like “/portfolio”? Or differently… is there a way of tricking a theme into treating multiple urls as portfolio pages?
Thanks.

OK. I’m not sure what happened, but it’s now apparently working. /portfolio displays in French and /en/portfolio displays in English. The only problem is that both display the same title which is a string that is entered into the theme (Argent). So I guess I just need to find a way to translate that string.

And because I can’t stop picking at this thread…
It seems that the line of code that generates the title (or rather… pulls it from the database) is:
<?php argent_portfolio_title( '<h1 class="page-title">', '</h1>' ); ?>argent_portfolio_title in turn pulls the title from jetpack using:
get_option( 'jetpack_portfolio_title' )I’m not quite sure how to go about translating this string since I don’t know where polylang sits in the chain of events. It seems to me that the theme / jetpack would have to be multi-language aware in order to provide multiple options here.
