translation doesn’t work

  i installed the hebrew translation of wordpress (2.2.2). u can see the files are in place:

  [root@osh] /www/php/wp/wp-content/languages$ ls
  he_IL.mo he_IL.php he_IL.po

  in the wp-config.php file i have this line in place:
  define (‘WPLANG’, ‘he_IL’);

  i know the translation at least gets the correct locale cause the system gets the “rtl” attribute (and from other tests i ran arround in the code), but it seems like the “gettext” just doesn’t work from some reason i wasn’t able to figure out myself.
