Translation not applying to default WordPress plain email notifications
-
Hi everyone 👋
I’m currently translating my site (http://floresnocais.pt) using Poedit and uploading the
.poand.mofiles manually via FTP to the appropriate languages folder. This method has been working perfectly so far — all plugin strings and even the WordPress core translations are reflecting well. However, I’ve noticed that some strings remain untranslated, particularly in email notifications for new comments.
The most notable one is the plain email format sent when a new comment is awaiting moderation. It always starts with:
“A new comment on the post “%s” is waiting for your approval”
This string has been correctly translated for a long time in my
.pofile (as you can see in the screenshot attached), but the translated version is never reflected in those emails.I’ve encountered similar issues with plugin strings in the past, which I managed to solve by regenerating the
.pofile based on the latest.pot. However, in this case I believe I’m already using the most up-to-date version, labelled in Poedit as:
“WordPress – 6.8.x – Development”Is there any known issue or cache-related behavior that might be affecting the translation of these email strings?
Would appreciate your guidance on how to ensure those default email templates reflect the correct translations 😊
Thanks in advance!
