translation widget

I would adore adding a translation widget! I must be missing something though. How do I go about doing it?
I got this part…..Click for Translation but need assistance for the translation page itself.

@mikegantt
That link I posted for Harry to his Translation page on his blog won’t be helpful for you. Please check your email. -
@britexfabrics
We cannot use the Google translation widget on wordpress.COM blogs so we use a workaround and paste the code on a static page. Replace every “onecoolsitebloggingtips.com” with the your own blog’s url in the code below and then create a static page and paste the code into the HTML editor and publish it.Click the link below to translate this blog into the language of your choice: <table border="0"> <tbody> <tr> <td><a You are fabulous! Thank you so much. It is an amazing thrill to see our blog in languages other than English.

timethief,
You should change your name to timegiver because, while many people and problems TAKE time from us, you SAVE us time with your words and service.
Thanks!Mike

@britexfabrics
I’m glad this did the job for you. I got the code from http://ismailimail.wordpress.com/ and he deserves the credit. :) -

Hello timethief,
A blog visitor has asked me to put a translator button on my blog at http://www.janezlifeandtimes.wordpress.com
that is the URL but not the name – the name is
Life @ Number 8I have read all the above but do not understand what a static page is
and if you mean to put ALL that code onto that page.
Most things I can understand and work out but I am rather lost in this.
I am wanting a little button on the home page side-bar that visitors can then select.
Are you able to assist me?
Jane -
The thing is: that’s code for a LOT of different translators, for tons of different languages. There isn’t ONE button that will do it for all those languages. That’s why you need a static page for it.
This will explain what a static page is:
-
By the way, you’ll need to get the exact URL in order for HTML code to work. Your URL is NOT http://www.janezlifeandtimes.wordpress.com/
It is http://janezlifeandtimes.wordpress.com/
Code is fussy like that.

raincoaster,
thanks for correcting my URL for me.
I have made a new (static) page and named it Translate this Page
then I copy/pasted the above code and inserted it and clicked on Publish.When I went to the Translate This Page tab to review the text was there but was
right across the side bars of my blog.So I have removed it for now, though left the created page in place.
What shall I do? -
That is because you have pasted it into the VISUAL editor, instead of the HTML editor. You also have to replace her URL, http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com with http://janezlifeandtimes.wordpress.com everywhere it occurs.
When you go to Edit the page, just click on the HTML tab in the Edit box and paste the code in there instead. Then make the changes to the URLs. Then just update and it should all work.

Exactly and I did state that in the same comment that I posted the code in:

With timethief’s help, I was able to add the translation page to my static page ~~ in the process learning what a static page is and what I can do with it. I have only had the translation page up and running for four days, and already it is being used a few times every day. Thanks tt and everybody!
