Transparency Renders as Black in Avatar
-
I have a non-rectangular Avatar. I wanted it to have an alpha channel/transparency, but when I upload it (gif or png) the transparent parts are black instead of transparent. See my avatar for an example. Everything outside of the red circle should be transparent.

I found the solution to your problem in the forum search box by typing in “avatar trsanparency”. When you upload your avatar here, wordpress automatically resizes it. when it does so, it loses any transparency. you’ll have to add a white background to your avatar. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=9053&page&replies=7#post-61882

there must be something wrong. I even changed my avatar for 24 times :(
what’s wrong today? Every images turn to black. -
There are avatar problems and you can see this by looking down the forum threads like this one https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=15848
Some bases worth covering are:
(1) Be sure your image one of these file types – jpg, jpeg, png, gif (Note that bmp’s cannot be uploaded due to size).
(2) Do not use anything in the file name but letters and numbers. Use no spaces, no dashes, no underscores, or any type of special character or punctuation, except for the dot between the file name and the extension. Also make sure that the file name has an extension.
(3) Choose an image that does not have any transparency in it.
(4) Pre-sized the image to be 128 pixels x 128 pixels square prior to trying to upload it.Staff do monitor these forum threads so please make sure you have posted a link to your blog or have linked your username to your blog so staff can locate your blog and help you.

JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF…. I’ve try all of these file types. I also never use anything in the file name but letters and numbers. No spaces, no dashes, and absolutely no underscores. With an extension at the end of the name, of course. I did resize and scale my images to 128 * 128 pixels, coz I dont like to crop on dashboard.
So, there’s avatar problems? Well… :|
But anyway, timethief, thanks for the update. I’ll try it again.
Thank you :) -
