Transparent box and arrows on Carousel

I am using the Olsen Light WordPress template. I am trying to make the carousel info box as well as the arrows on the carousel to be transparent rather than to have a white background. I tried to use the Custom CSS plugin but am confused as to how that works. I am very new to blogging so could use some help!

The Olsen Light theme is only available on self-hosted WordPress sites (also known as WordPress.org). We can only support WordPress.com sites on this forum, but here’s a few resources that might help.
