Trapped in the Customizer preview

The ‘exit preview’ button doesn’t work.

Where to you see an “exit preview” button in the Customizer? There should be a black rectangular button with an “X” in the middle of it at the bottom right. Is that the one you’re referring to?

No. When I click on ‘colors’, a yellow square comes up at the top of the screen with a but or exit message, but the ‘exit preview’ button doesn’t work. When I click it, it sends me to a page that says ‘OOPS! That page can’t be found.’

    @ coryfournier,

After clicking on colors at the Customizer, the message I see in the yellow rectangle, at the top is

I don’t see an “exit preview” button, or “exit message.” Perhaps you could make a screen shot to show us what you are referring to.

I see what you mean now. The “exit the preview” link closes the preview (did for me at least), but after clicking on that link you will remain on the Customize page. You exit the Customizer as I said previously, by clicking on the black rectangle at the bottom right with the “X” in its center.

Another thing I noticed is that after clicking the “exit the preview” link, the message with the yellow background disappears and the preview options are more limited, unless you select “Try It Now” again at “Custom Design.”

So, yeah, I still have the problem that I outlined.

I have not been able to duplicate this effect. In my attempts to duplicate the issue you describe, I find that clicking on the “exit the preview” link closes the preview. No “Oops!” page ever appeared in my several attempts on different websites, with different themes activated (including Sela, the theme you’re using).

You may see “Oops! That page can’t be found,” if you attempt to visit a non-existent page, such as https://expertese.wordpress.com/2015 — there is no post archives page because you have no published posts. But I don’t understand why you would see that result after clicking a link on the customizer. You might publish a test post to see if this resolves the issue.
