trashed posts

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,
I had moved some of my posts on the trash and left them there in case I would wanted to recover them.
I have accessed the site today after few months and to my surprise all those posts have disappeared.
Interestingly, the site still shows all statistics related to them.
Can you please let me know where the posts have gone and if I can recover them because I have not emptied the trash !
    Thanks,
    Monica

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

See here for the relevant support doc that answers your question http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/

Items within your trash folders can be restored or permanently deleted within 30 days of their original trashing.

That’s a bad plan. Next time make the posts “private” instead.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the replies.
I did not find any ‘private’ mode until today nor did I know about the 30 days timeline for items moved to the trash. I did act in that way as a
back-up plan because I wanted to revamp the website.
In addition, to my concern, I have noticed that this thread has been mapped on google search results whereas it should be private or at least no content should appear on the search engine.
Do you know how I can remove it from the forum for privacy concerns?
    Thanks,
    Monica

From the sticky post at the head of the support forums:

Always be aware that you are posting to a public forum, and that forum topics may only be deleted if they represent a valid security or personal safety concern. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/wordpresscom-forums-code-of-conduct?replies=1

    mdettori.wordpress.com is no longer available.
The authors have deleted this site.

Your other blog here is a business site http://hrandcareerconsulting.wordpress.com/about-me/
so there is no valid security or personal safety concern.

Well, it is a business site but any comment appearing in this forum although public should be readable only my wordpress subscribers and not by everybody on google search engine.
If there is no protection on personal names which are covered by data protection law, then it would be an issue for me as everybody can read whatever appears on this forum.
If you cannot delete this thread, i will have to delete my website from word press and create it somewhere else which would be very inconvenient. Can you please delete the thread ?

    Thanks

Whether or not you post your personal name on your blog or register it as a username and post here under it is up to you. These threads are all indexed by search engines just as public blogs are all indexed by search engines.

I cannot delete this thread and neither can you. Only Staff can do so and and only under the provision I already posted above. I’ll tag this thread for a Staff response. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

    Thanks for your reply.
I thought you were part of the team at word press and were replying on their behalf.
I am aware of rules on forums and that the site is indexed on search engines. My concern is that any conversation on a forum managed by a site with subscription, should be accessible and readable by members only and this was the belief under which I started a thread as I could not find any other way to contact directly word press.
I will wait for a reply from a staff member.
    Thanks

    Hi there!

As timethief has explained, we do not delete threads unless they pose a security risk. It’s common practice for a forum to be open and readable by the public, including being indexed by search engines. If there is specific information in this thread you’re interested in having removed, let me know.

I’m sorry if this makes you decide to move your site to a new host, but let me know if there’s anything I can do to help.

    Hi,
I contacted you privately but I had no reply from your part.
I would like to close my account on wordpress along with this thread which raised serious concerns.
    Please confirm my requests.

    Hi there,

We have responded several times via email. Here is a copy of our most recent response:

As we have explicitly stated our policies regarding our forums, we are not able to remove threads for any reasons other than security concerns. As we mentioned in the original post, if there is some aspect of the thread which is of particular concern to you, I will be happy to review it and remove that part if possible, however we are not able to delete the entire thread.

Please feel free to respond here or via email with any security concerns you may have.

I have not received any email in regard to my last requests which are still ongoing.
Safety concern is an issue as my requests sent via email to your colleague Shawna explained fully. I had no reply from her.
I do not also see confirmation that my account on wordpress will be deleted as I requested.
    regards,
    User
