Trial and the Business plan subscription

I recently joined wordpress because I recently found a tutorial on youtube. I am trying to recreate the steps to get familiar with WordPress and decide whether I woudl want to continue with the software. However the youtube video is two years old and I am not sure if it is still possible to repeat all the steps today.
Specifically I am stuck with downloading the “astra” theme. In the video the theme was available in the theme gallery for free but today I am only able to download it as a zip file on their own website. (https://wpastra.com/astra-thank-you/). When I download this zip I cant upload it to WordPress I cant unless I have a business account (at wordpress).
Next, I try to use the “elementor” website builder but this is also not available until I purchase the business subscription at wordpress (again).
In the video it was not necessary to get this subscription and the person was able to do the steps for free. I am currently trying to replicate the steps to see if wordpress is something for me but I cant do much without paying a subscription fee because I end up at the problems described above.
Am I currently missing something or did everything change in the past 2 years?

This is happening because you’re using our service (WordPress.com) which is different than the WordPress software used on other hosting providers. You can read more here:
If you don’t want to upgrade to our Business plan, you can get a hosting plan at a different provider and install WordPress there. Here are few recommendations:
