Tried to customize header but will not appear…

  • Unknown's avatar

    I am using the Ambiru theme, although I customized the color and font to fit the look I wanted. I then went to the custom header and uploaded my image. It says:

    Header complete!

    Visit your site and you should see the new header now.

    Yet I have not been able to get it to appear. I believe that there is a code or something missing that is hiding this image. Please help….I am stuck!!

    Once you have the CSS upgrade, the custom header thing will no longer work. You have to upload the image to your media library, get the URL of the image and then put it into the correct place in the CSS.

    How do I find out where the correct place is?

    Without a link to the blog, I cannot begin to tell you. The site linked to your username is not a wordpress.COM blog.

    Oh. The link to my blog is beautiesandbabies.wordpress.com
    Thank you for your help. Please let me know if you need any additional info.

    First off, size the header to the exact dimension require for the theme and then upload it to the media library (dashboard > media > add new). Get the URL for that image from the grey box at the bottom of the window.

    In #header, replace ./images/header.png in the background declaration (between the parentheses) with the URL of your uploaded header image.

    Worked!! Thank you so much, I really appreciate your assistance and patience with me!! Thank you again,

    this is exactly my problem too – would the same solution work for any theme? I’m using Tarski.

    Also do you happen to know how to remove the theme info from the bottom, or is that not allowed? I have paid for CSS upgrade and No Ads upgrade.

    Many thanks, Josh

    Your header image is here:

    #header-image a img {
    background:url('http://feathersintheframes.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/header42.jpg') no-repeat scroll 0 0;
    border:0;
    }

    Simply upload the new header to your media library, copy the URL of that image and then replace the URL between (‘ and ‘) in the background declaration.

    Also note that I added no-repeat scroll 0 0 after the URL to keep things clean.

    Hi, thanks so much for your help. However, the css you copied here was actually something I put in already in an attempt to insert the header. It’s not exactly the original CSS, or header. It doesn’t over-ride the default header, as you can see on the site now. Any ideas? Thanks!

    Tarski is strange in that it does not put the URL of the header into the CSS. Let me play with it a little and see what I can come up with.

    I looked at the theme designer’s forum, and from what I can tell, Tarski does header completely differently. The original theme did not even have the ability to add custom headers and the way that it was handled was by a plugin.

    You are stuck uploading a header in Tarski via the custom header upload function. That is the only way really.

    My suggestion: Find another theme and work with it instead of Tarski.

    Same to you and I wish there was a solution.
