Tried to migrate my site to wordpress.org and messed up
-
I used this processs to migrate my site to a wordpress.org site: http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-properly-move-your-blog-from-wordpress-com-to-wordpress-org/. I got through step 3 and think I just imported my site back on to itself so I have a duplicate menu bar. I think I should have imported my old/current site somewhere else? I am not sure how to access my new wordpress.org site, I guess.
a. how to back out this mistake?
b. how do i get set in the right direction at step 3?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

A. I think you might have to go into your site and manually delete all the duplicates.
B. For the second step you need you be in your WordPress.org account AND then import the file
Note: Your original file created during the export would not have the duplicate posts on it. Hopefully you can find the file that was created during the import. Once you upload that original file to your WordPress.org account everything should transfer over.
Note 2: IF you create an export file now (with your site having duplicates) your export file will contain them. That is why you should use your original one.

Thank you for following up!
How do I access my wordpress.org site? How is the login different than my original site? I think between steps 2 and 3 there is something missing. Do I need to create a wordpress.org site? If so, how do I do that?
THANK YOU

WordPress.com as there own guide which I think can help resolve your question

But yes you will need a WordPress.org site that will be a separate login and password.
