Tried to set up a new blog. Everything got mixed up.

    Hi – I have one blog that seems to be working fine (except it doesn’t seem to be published anywhere). I attempted to set up another, but instead of being a blog, it turned out to be a website, and none of the sections seem to be working. It’s probably a matter of sequencing, but the changes I attempted to make didn’t end up where I wanted them, etc., and every time I clicked on a button on the left, I was directed to a new place that just made matters worse. At one point I saw a button that would allow me to keep the domain name, but scrap the current site. So, I copied my new blog entries over to my old blog and tried to find that button again. I couldn’t find it, nor am I familiar enough with the WordPress lingo to know what the process is called so I can search for it.

    So, can someone please tell me in simple terms how to eliminate the setup that I tried to establish, keep the domain and set up a new blog for 2017. Thanks.

    Hi There,
    Here is a great support page that should walk you through clearing your site without losing your actual site itself. You can then start again.

    Once you choose a theme…

    I do recommend the information pages that come with the theme as they should be able to help you set up your site the way that you like.

    I immediately bumped into the problem I described before: I clicked on these buttons:
    Delete all posts
    Delete all pages
    Delete all categories
    Delete all tags
    Delete all media

    They then said to click on bulk edit, but there was no bulk edit choice. The assumption that everyone knows how to use every button trips up those of us who are new to using WordPress. Do you know where the most basic start-up page is?

    If you try going to this link, it will take you into the Dashboard. That is where you need to be to clear out the files. You should be able to choose your bulk actions here. Thanks

    There are tons of support documents and videos that can help guide you through all aspects of WordPress. If you wanted a simple start, that would be a great link!
