  I tried to create an archive page by making a gallery. I ran into two problems:

  1) In the gallery, when I click on a picture, it doesn’t take me to that post. Instead, it shows the EXIF data of the picture and other details.
  2) When I go for the Thumbnail Grid option, the pictures are in thumbnail format but the gap between them is too large. I’d want to reduce that gap.

  1) A gallery image can link to file or attachment page or carousel view – you can’t make it link elsewhere. You need individually inserted images. See this post of mine:

  2) The default width for thumbnails (both gallery thumbnails and individually inserted thumbnails) is set by you in Settings > Media.
