Troll Alert !!

Think you owe Rain Coaster an apology too…they tried to help you and you ignored them and they’ve been proven right…you let a comment slip by on your blog which led to all the increased spam…you weren’t being attacked you were being spammed which is what Rain Coaster told you was happening.
-
RC was the only one I had to apologise to. Not AC. Though AC responded. RC didn’t.
I didn’t let a comment slip through. I approved 4 probe comments in 10,000 because I thought they were real, pertaining to posts over a period of months, not knowing what to look for in comment design of spammers.
I am a blogger, not a computer expert. I make mistakes through ignorance, not on purpose.
-
I responded MULTIPLE times, but I’m long past expecting apologies.
It is not necessary to know everything; it is simply necessary to accept information when it is given to you, even if you don’t like it.

Okay, it would have taken some doing to come back from the exchange we had, but that works!

staff-ozmodiar – I have not looked at whatever is here about spam comments for a while, would it be possible to either add a bit with a few examples of what to look for as well as spammer tactics? Either in existing documents or a new page to help people here.
Would have maybe helped the OP a bit, also if the careful about spam page was linked from the fancy new starting page / section.
That’s really not a bad idea.

I will leave my notifier untouched for the next few hours. There are 10 spammer comments which have escaped Akismet. I will also not delete my dashboard spam. http://bluefishway.com/

@Ralph,
Although Akismet is generally very good about recognizing spam and will put spam in the spam folder, here are some resources that you will want to read to educate yourself to recognize those spam comments that may make it into your regular comments:5 things every blogger should know about spam: http://akismet.com/how/#gs2
http://en.support.wordpress.com/unwanted-comments/
Hope that helps.

@rootjosh-the Team Akismet have really done a good job on their site. Maybe we can adopt that here? :)
Also, I think I still have the 20,000 word copy/paste that a very inept beginner dropped into the comment box on one of my sites a year or two ago. If anyone wants it, just let me know.

Hi Just Jennifer :D,
Thanks for links. I have read some already, but will read them again.
20,000 words !! Wow. No thanks !! hehe
I have just posted this. Whether it’s right or wrong, hardly any BAD comments access my notifier now.
