Trouble Adding Media (Gallery)

  I am creating a new page on my WordPress site. I am trying to add media (jpeg picture) to the new page (I have also tried adding the picture to an existing page). In either case, I get an HTTP error. I have performed this task a million times (exaggeration) in the past and had no problems. I was in the new page wrote some introductory text and clicked Add Media chose Upload Files, clicked Select Files then chose the file I wished to upload (700 KB) and got the HTTP error (no number given just said HTTP Error). Just a note if I try to load a file already in the Media Library I have no problem. I would appreciate any help you could provide.

  I’ve tried Signing Out of WordPress and Signing In again hoping that would solve the problem but no luck. Hopefully someone will be able to help. It’s kind of nice to know I’m not the only one with the problem.

  I tried again this morning to add media to a WordPress Page but ended up with the same HTTP Error (no error code). Would really appreciate any hep someone could provide. – Thanks Tom Nash

  I think I have solved the problem (at least for me). I updated to Firefox 42 a week ago. I decided to try Chrome to see if it fixed my problem because I really have to add this media. It did. So if you are having this problem FIREFOX 42 is the problem. I went back and tried to add media under Firefox 42 and continued to have the problem.

  See I’ve been doing it on Chrome all the time so not sure if that will help at all.

  Sorry. the fix didn’t work for you. As noted, I was having Firefox 42 problems with adding Media. When I started using Chrome I was using Version 42.0.2311.90 64 bit for Mac and everything works fine. I thought you might be using a more recent version of Chrome so I upgraded to Chrome Version 47.0.2526.73 64 Bit (again for MAC} (Latest Release). I’ve tried it on both my Macbook Pro and IMac and it works OK (I wouldn’t expect it to not work but I thought I’d give it a try). Are you using an older version of Chrome if so that may be the problem? I’m surprised that no one has provided a solution. I have posted my two problems (I added another one because other then you no one was responding) and closed them both as resolved. You may want to put in a problem for yourself to see if someone comes through. Thanks Tom Nash

  “how to upload images using URL” @justjennifer gave a really great way of doing it. I am sorted now. And a very happy blogger. :)
