Trouble adding pages to a menu

I created a new page with the ‘Add new’ icon on the ‘Pages’ page. This new page did not show up on the ‘Menu’ page, so I could not drag it into the menu structure. When I created a new page with the ‘+ New’ icon in the header navigation area, the new page does show up on the ‘Menu’ page and I can add it to the menu structure. Did I miss something when setting up my account? At first I thought it was because I created the page before loading a theme but the same happens with pages created after the theme has been loaded.

And, exactly which wordpress.COM username account registered that site?
