Trouble Adding URL

    Hello,

    I needed a little help a few weeks ago and was blown away by the support on the forum. So much so, I shifted a blog that was on Blogger to WordPress. One more itsy bitsy step to blog heaven…. I want to change the url from http://trackerblog.wordpress.com to http://trackerblog.instedd.org. So I went to the domain area, put in the new url, paid the $10 via paypal for the credits to do and….nada. I waited an hour and a half and wrote to the WordPress Support. That was 2 hours ago and I haven’t heard a thing. I gave them paypal transaction reference number. Should I be patient? Suggestions?

    Have you followed all of the steps in the FAQ? I can’t tell from what you have posted what you have done. http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/11/10/domain-mapping/

    If that url was one that you already owned, then you still may need to do the “put blog here” step See the FAQ

    Thank you Vivian Paige! I actually can’t make heads or tails of the FAQ, though, but have asked a friend to take a look. The minute it gets into “DNS” and lists of numbers,it’s flying over my head…I’m more the drag’n’drop type…

    It can take up to twelve hours after making the change for everything to settle down, as well. And do be aware that things take longer on the weekend.

    I will second what raincoaster said–it can take quite awhile sometimes and that holds true for the four other host that I have tried as well. I do love wordpress. I’ve tried them all and had many a headache in the process. WordPress gives me the best traffic and quality.
