Trouble changing hyper-link color
-
I’m using the free twentyelevin theme on a site I just created
https://heritagedulcimers.wordpress.comWhen I create hyper-links to other sites it “usually” comes out a light or pale blue though sometimes it’s black with a blue underline .I don’t seem to be able to change the color by highlighting the text and choosing from the color palette.
Am I doing something wrong?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you have the Premium or Business upgrade http://wordpress.com/plans and use Custom CSS, you can opt to apply custom CSS to a WordPress.com theme.
Note 1: If you have the required upgrade you can use this link https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization#postform so you can create a thread that will appear in the CSS Forum where you will get the help you need with CSS editing.
Note 2: You can also post there prior to purchasing an upgrade to get an answer to whether or not what you want to do can be accomplished via CSS editing.

Hi there! Despite the tags in the sidebar I’m not sure this is a CSS editing issue. It may be a bug.
Hi,
I encountered the same issue on a test site with the Twenty Eleven theme applied. I was able to change the text color of regular text in a post, by highlighting and choosing from the text color palette in the post editor toolbar, but the same process failed in every case when applied to an URL inserted into the post content. The chosen color did appear, in each of my tests, in the editor, but not on the visible post, which inevitably retained the default light blue color.
I’ll tag the topic for staff attention. Staff will respond here.

Thanks, pal. : )
Let me clarify my test results:
The text color was changeable in every case in a post editor, but the chosen color only appeared on the publicly viewable post when the text was normal text (a series of words), regardless of whether the phrase was a link or not. When the text was an URL, which automatically creates a link, the default text color was retained on the URL in the visible post, though the chosen color was applied to the URL in the editor. -
I found an odd work around but it was still a pain. I discovered that if I highlight just a couple letters of the word, or one word if it was a phrase, I could change the color on just that part. Then I could highlight the rest of the word or phrase and change the color.

Hi there,
This is a bug in WordPress Core: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/41033
It will need to be fixed there before it can be fixed here. For now the workaround is to type your anchor text, change the colour, and then add the link.
(I notice you just pasted a plain link in your most recent posts. I strongly recommend you use anchor text instead – it looks better, is better for search engines and makes it easier for visually impaired people using screen readers to access your site. Type the text you want to appear in your post – make sure it’s descriptive and doesn’t just say “click here” or similar – highlight it and change the colour, and then paste the link or click the Link icon in the editor toolbar and add the link.)
With your theme you can set a default colour for links, though, here:
https://heritagedulcimers.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=theme_options
If that’s not being applied to some links, please give a direct link to a post or page where that’s visible so I can take a look.
