Trouble changing the photo that appears when I post a link to my WordPress blog
-
I am having trouble with changing the photo that appears when I post a link to my WordPress blog. I am using the free version so this limits me on plugins.
Here is an example: My picture appears and I have already replaced it both on WordPress settings and Gravatar to a photo of my logo. No matter what I do, the picture remains. Any idea how to fix this? All help will be greatly appreciated!!

Hi there,
The images is most likely cached on Facebook’s end. You can use Facebook’s debugger tool to flush their cache for your site, and force them to fetch a new image from your site. However, we have no control over which image they’ll choose to use when you do this.

Hello Kokkieh,
Thank you for your response. I am getting the exact same image on LinkedIn as I am on Facebook:

In addition, I see the same image on the tab of each open blog on Chrome.
Might there be something else going on?
Thanks,

Hi John,
This is a caching issue on those services. Please follow @kokkieh’s instructions on how to refresh Facebook’s cache.
For Linkedin, here are the instructions to clear the cache:

Hello Fstat,
Here is the result of the Facebook debug:
Here is the same procedure on LinkedIn:
In addition, it says that LinkedIn only caches the image for 7 days, and I made the change to the logo over a year ago.
The image is still present, not my logo as you see beside this post. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
John -
Hey John, thanks for the links. I had a look at the results and noticed that the image that Facebook and LinkedIn use is your old site icon – you can see it as the icon on the browser tab when opening your site.
I’ve cleared your site’s cache but it seems to still be there and we’ll probably need to wait some time for it to be completely gone. To try and speed this up, you may want to upload your new logo as your site icon from My Site>Design>Customize>Site Identity.
Let me know if that helps.

Hello Fresatomica,
Thank you for your suggestion. Using My Site>Design>Customize>Site Identity I was able to add the logo which appears rather awkwardly at the top. That said, the photo of me still shows up on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Chrome tabs.
Thoughts?
Sincerely,
John -
Browsers and social media networks tend to cache site icons for a set amount of time.
I’d say in about a week or two, you’ll see your new icon everywhere.

Hello Macmanx,
Thank you for your input. I will give this some time and hopefully, the change occurs as you have described.
Thanks,
John
