Trouble changing username and domain name.

I am trying to change my username as well as my domain name. I had started to create an entirely new blog to address my new external website when I discovered I could just change my existing information on this account. After discovering that I could not simply delete the new account, I just changed the username and domain name to something different so they would be free for me to use on this one. Now when I attempt to use the user name, the site is telling me it is not available. I know this is not true, as I have just used it and then released it. I have also typed the name into my browser which tells me it does not exist. So I know it’s available. As for the domain name, it let me change it to the desired one, but still will not perform with it. If I type it into the browser as mentioned above, it tells me it does not exist. However if I type my old domain name in, it still pulls up my site. It shows the NEW domain name in my settings menu. The username I am attempting to use is tomedwardsmusic. The domain name is tomedwardsmusic.wordpress.com. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There is no such thing as releasing a username for reuse.
Blog names are the same as usernames for the most part. Usernames can be turned into blog names, but blog names cannot be turned into usernames. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/cant-change-username-because-i-use-same-display-name?replies=5#post-694997
tomedwardsmusic.wordpress.com is no longer available. The authors have deleted this site.
Deleted blog URLs are not recycled here and you can confirm by reading:
