Trouble changing 'Website' under Users/Personal Settings… get 'nickname' error

  Hi there. I am trying to change the ‘website’ (from catwalkcuisine.wordpress.com to gracepaulter.wordpress.com) under Users/Personal Settings. I am getting a message that says ‘Error: please enter a nickname.’ However there is no nickname field on the page. I would like to change my website because I want my comments to link to my current blog, gracepaulter.wordpress.com. What can I do to fix this error?

  I am having the exact same problem. I’m trying to change website from my deleted blog thehedonisthandbook.wordpress.com to bermandswale.com. I’m commenting so I can see followup post advice.

  So as soon and I posted my comment, I went to https://en.support.wordpress.com/change-your-username/ and clicked on the Account Settings link under Change Username. From that page I was able to change the web address without error messages. I double-checked my user name; the first time I clicked (before successfully updating) it went to my deleted blog, but now it goes to the correct address. Good luck!
