Trouble connecting Cyberduck to WordPress site.

    Hi there,
    I’ve recently purchased a domain name through Godaddy and linked it to my WordPress account.

    I’m trying to upload a WordPress Theme via ftp client Cyberduck and can’t establish a connection.

    Cyberduck asks for:
    Server
    Username
    Password

    I assume this to mean:
    Server: mangodennis.com
    username: ‘WordPress account username’
    password: ‘wordpress account password’

    but entering this information only gets me the error message:
    Connect timed out. The connection attempt timed out. The server may be down, or your network may not be properly configured.

    am I missing something obvious?

    any help appreciated.

    Hey mangodennis,

    WordPress.com does not allow FTP access.

    Thanks Darrell,

    from what i understand in the link you provided, I would need to have my site hosted elsewhere and use wordpress.org rather than wordpress.com.

    Correct. WordPress.com users are not permitted to upload their own themes. You would need a self-hosted installation of WordPress to have that capability.
