Trouble Embedding a YouTube Video (wrong aspect ratio, hidden text, not centered, wrong width)
-
Hello everyone,
I just started using WordPress and am having trouble formatting an embedded YouTube video.
(1) If I simply paste the YouTube link (i.e., https://youtu.be/25cDZvYpVSI), the width of the video player matches that of the text, but the aspect ratio is wrong (i.e., square instead of something like 16×9). Also, the video player extends downwards and hides the text below it.
(2) If I embed the video using the iframe method[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25cDZvYpVSI&w=560&h=315]
the aspect ratio is correct but the video player is small and left-justified.
(3) If I embed a YouTube video using a YouTube block in WordPress, the aspect ratio is correct, and the video player doesn’t hide any text, but the video player width is much wider than the text width.Could I have help please on how to embed a YouTube video while preserving the original aspect ratio, not hiding any text, centered, and maintaining the same width as the text? Thank you very much.

Thank you very much fresatomica for your offer of help.
My blog post is still a draft, but I have temporarily published it so that you can have a look:

The post has examples of all three YouTube video player formatting problems mentioned above.
I have a free WordPress.com account, so I hope I can still receive help here.

I’m seeing the correct aspect ration on the video embedded via the YouTube Block.
First, please make sure that your browser is up to date: https://browsehappy.com/
If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.
If it is, please do these two things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.
2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

Hello macmanx and thank you for your offer of help.
I am using Safari 13.1.2, which appears to be up-to-date.
I agree with you that the aspect ratio of the video player (16:9?) appears to be correct, but what I would like to achieve—as mentioned in my original post—is all of the following formatting for the embedded YouTube video player:
1. preserve the original aspect ratio;
2. not overlap any text;
3. centered;
4. maintain the same width as the text.I would appreciate any suggestions towards achieving these ends. The above formatting seems to be no problems for images but not for videos. Thank you very much.

Hi there,
This is a known issue with the YouTube embeds and the theme you’re using (Independent Publisher 2). We have already reported it to our developers and we’ll let you know as soon as we hear back from them.
In the meantime, you can use a different theme.

Hello fstat,
Thank you very much for finally shedding light on my problem! I’ll try another theme, as long as this maintains the current layout of my text and images.
