Trouble embedding Hulu videos with Vodpod

When I embed videos from hulu.com with Vodpod, the videos take over 30 seconds to load and spontaneously change dimensions. Is there any way to improve the load times? Or can wordpress.com add Hulu to their list of supported flash websites? Other wordpress hosting sites, such as edublogs.org, have native support for embedding flash. Why can’t wordpress.com do the same?

Hulu itself has issues. For one thing, Hulu videos are not viewable in certain countries, like Canada. I don’t think the trouble lies with WordPress or Vodpod.

The inability to watch Hulu videos outside of the US is not a “issue” with Hulu. That is purely intentional on their part; they must do it if they want shows from American studios. The problem lies completely with vodpod. Here is an example of a hulu video embedded in a wordpress blog:
http://flashswfembedexample.edublogs.org/
The video in this example loads simultaneously with the page. It was also very easy to add this video at edublogs.org. I merely clicked the “flash swf embed” button, then entered the embedding link and dimensions. Why can’t wordpress.com offer this feature?

ahumorsite and others: you should now be able to post Hulu videos to your blogs with our “Post to WordPress” bookmarklet or “Share Videos” Firefox extension:

Thanks to epigonic for fixing the vodpod issue. The videos load much faster. However, they still do not load as fast as the video I added at the edublogs.org site:

Compare the snappy video load time there with the quick, but certainly not as fast video load time at wordpress.com:

I still stand by the declaration of that blog’s url. The “flash swf embed” button not only provides faster load times, it is also much easier to add the videos to a blog post.

Am I doing something wrong? I used the Post to WordPress button, and Vodpod did publish a post… but the video isn’t showing up — not at all, not just delayed.

hey thomasontracts, i just posted the video with no problem to my wordpress.com blog (epigonic.wordpress.com) with our regular vodpod button, available here:
