Trouble exporting my website!!!
-
Hi Rachel
I had an issue with my jetpack today, and everything on it reset, including all of my subscribers disappearing!
Can you please migrate them over again?
Thanks
Steph -
Hi again,
I’m getting a little confused with my subscribers ever since I moved from .com to .org
When I logged back into my old .com account, which has since reverted to http://www.stephsagventures.wordpress.com, it says I only have three subscribers, 2 of who have subscribed in the past week. But ever since jetpack had a spaz attack yesterday, all 200+ of my subscribers have dissapeared from my .org http://www.ausagventures.com
In saying that, when I look at my subscribers it says I have none, but then when I look at my subscribers plugin it says I have 6??

Hi there,
Originally, we moved your subscribers over to your self-hosted blog at the domain ausagventures.com.au. It looks like now you’re using the domain ausagventures.com with your self-hosted blog. Is that right?
Your subscribers aren’t lost (and they weren’t moved back to your WordPress.com blog), but they weren’t moved over when you switched the domain you’re using with your self-hosted blog. I’m happy to move them over for you, but I want to make sure I’m moving them to the right place. :)

Thanks for confirming. :) I just fixed your subscribers on our end. To make sure everything is working properly, can you please go to the Jetpack section in your dashboard, disconnect it from WordPress.com, and then reconnect it?

You’re super welcome! I hope someday I can visit Australia — your blog makes me want to see some of the agricultural parts of the country! :)
-
Please don’t hesitate to make contact if you end up down here, we love showing people around! I do most of my traveling by just visiting farms and ranches of people I know via social media haha (sounds weird but farmers are pretty safe I think!)
It’s not a big deal, but the stats from the 29th and missing and the 30th are wrong (it says 23 views but yesterday it was at 165 the last time I checked…) is there some way to get those ones back? Not a biggie :)
-
Sure thing! I just fixed up your stats, so they should all be there now. Sorry, I forgot to double-check that after fixing your subscribers.
And thanks for the offer! My family has a farm in the US (I missed growing up there by one generation), and I agree that farmers are a pretty safe and friendly bunch. :) Happy new year!

Hi Rachel
Happy New Year! :)
I’ve been trying to import the content from my old website http://www.ausagcareers.com to my current site http://www.ausagventures.com
I imported the content to a dummy site today with no worries, but i can’t get it to go to ausagventures
Im not sure what to do next?
Cheers

Hi Steph,
Since those are both self-hosted sites using the WordPress.org software, there isn’t too much I can do to troubleshoot the issue for you. (Staff here at WordPress.com only have the tools to access files and information for sites hosted at WordPress.com.)
I’d recommend you check out the WordPress.org support forums here:
You can get a lot of help and advice for your self-hosted sites in those forums. :) You can also check out the WordPress.org support documentation here: http://codex.wordpress.org/
In particular, there’s a support page about importing content to self-hosted sites here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Importing_Content
I hope this helps! :)

Thanks Rachel, I appreciate your help anyway.
Surprise surprise I have one more question for you :)
So my wordpress.com website which is http://www.ausagventures.com is the one where you migrated my old wp.com subscribers too.
The website is actually buggered- It was hacked yesterday (recovered now), and ever since I changed it to being self hosted it keeps breaking down/crashing periodically.
So I have decided the best thing for me to do is rebuild the entire website at http://www.develop.ausagventures.com
Once the new website is all ready to rock and roll, I’m going to pay someone to move the files or something along those lines, so the actual new website lives at http://www.ausagventures.com, and the website that currently lives there can be burnt at the stake!
To be able to keep my subscribers- what is the best course forward? I have connected http://www.develop.ausagventures.com to JetPack but I haven’t configured the stats or anything because I’m wondering if I can get everything on the current Ausagventures.com jetpack onto this new develop.ausagventures Jetpack?
Does that make sense?
:)

Hi Steph,
You have a couple options here:
1. I can move your subscribers to the development site at http://www.develop.ausagventures.com/ and then move them back over to http://www.ausagventures.com/ when the new site is up and running there. (The new site looks awesome, by the way!)
However, if I do that, your subscribers will get notifications if you create new blog posts at the development site. If that site is really just for the behind-the-scenes work of rebuilding your site, you may not want all of your subscribers being notified about that one.
2. You can wait until the site is rebuilt and relaunched at http://www.ausagventures.com/ and then we can move your subscribers to the new version of that site.
Your subscribers are linked to the old site at that domain right now, and they won’t get lost — we’re keeping track of them on this end. When you relaunch the site, we can take a look and make sure the subscribers are linked to your relaunched site. That way it’s just one move, from the old site to the new, live site.
You’ll be able to keep your subscribers either way, so just let me know which route you’d like to take. :)

Hi Rachel
Thanks so much for that!
I think option 2 looks like the best one to do?
You have probably realised by now, but I have zero idea about the whole transfer process, and I don’t know/understand what will happen to the current live site when the development one takes its place. A man from my server support said to do the transfer I’d need to move the files of the develop.ausagventures.com site into the home directory via the cpanel- hence me hiring someone else to do that. When they do transfer the new files across, I’m guessing the old ones get wiped, and goodbye to the old/current live site- so that doesn’t mean the subscribers will disappear too?
-
Hi Steph,
I’d recommend option 2. :) You can let us know when your new site is up and running at http://www.ausagventures.com/ and we can make sure your subscribers are in the right place.
Don’t worry about the nitty gritty of the transfer. We keep track of all of your subscribers on our end, separate from your site’s files, so they won’t get lost when your old site’s files are wiped. You may not see those subscribers on your end when the development site takes the place of your old site, but if you get in touch at that point we can switch them over to the right place for you. :)

Hi Rachel
I’m going through all of my internet accounts and doing a major cleanup, and I wanted to do the same with my WP.com account
I most definitely want to keep my wp.com account
However over the years its been linked to a few other accounts I’d like to get rid of
There are
Careers in Australian Agriculture
Influential Women
My Blog
Abundantly AshleighCan these be removed somehow? I don’t have access to all of them so I can’t disconnect Jetpack. Can I disconnect Jetpack from “My Blog” if it is wp.com ? I have never done anything with that account so it’s not a big deal if it stays on.
All I would like to keep is
3 x Ausagventures (one is wp.com, two self hosted)
Central StationI can probably unattach the Careers ones, but the others I don’t have access too.
In saying that, the two Ausagventures self hosted ones- one is current, and one I deleted not too long ago- is it possible to move my stats over- but not my subscribers? On the new website I don’t want people to get email notifications when I post- I’ve set up a mail chimp monthly newsletter service instead.
Cheers

Hi Steph,
If you don’t have access to the Jetpack-linked blogs anymore, I can remove them from your account for you. Can you please just confirm the URLs for those sites you named? I want to be sure I’m removing the right ones. :)

Right now, all of your subscribers are linked to your self-hosted site at http://ausagventures.com/ (where we moved them the first time around). Your stats are also linked to that domain. If everything is connected correctly, you should see those stats in your self-hosted dashboard. Can you let me know if you see them there?
-
Hi Rachel
Something appears to have gone wrong, because the subscribers and the stats are not linked to the new account
I had my wp.com account, then a self hosted called Ausagventures.com (which you moved everything over for me) then due to hacking I built a 3rd website- deleted the first self hosted website, and linked the new self hosted called Ausagventures to Jetpack.
http://cl.ly/image/1f1R1d2J2m0X
http://cl.ly/image/1K470F0x3q0b
As you can see the first self hosted site (now shut down) had around 5000 hits, and the new currently live self hosted site only has around 2000 and 0 subscribers. I don’t want any of my subscribers- just the 81,000 hits connected to the wp.com and the 5000 hits connected to the currently live self hosted site.
As for the domains to disconnect
http://abundantlyashleigh.wordpress.com
http://influentialwomen.com.au
and I can’t find a blog URL for this ausagcareers account but the blog ID is 33909189Cheers
Stephp.s I know jetpack lets you see # individual visitors each month, is there a way to tell how many per year i.e see how many overlap each month?
Cheers
-
Hi Steph,
Sorry, I got a bit mixed up. I just sorted it out and moved all of your stats over to the new self-hosted site, so you’re all set there. :) I didn’t move your subscribers over.
I also removed http://influentialwomen.com.au and the ausagcareers sites from your account. The site at http://abundantlyashleigh.wordpress.com is a bit different, because it’s hosted here at WordPress.com instead of a self-hosted site. If you don’t want that site anymore, you can permanently delete it with this guide: Delete Site
Please be sure to read all the warnings carefully before you delete it, though. Deleting a WordPress.com site is permanent and can’t be undone, and you won’t ever be able to use that blog address again in the future. If you’re sure you want to delete it, you can do that by going to Tools > Delete Site in the blog’s dashboard.
p.s I know jetpack lets you see # individual visitors each month, is there a way to tell how many per year i.e see how many overlap each month?
You can view your visitors by day, week, or month, but we don’t have a way to view total visitors per year. If you’d like to see total views per year, you can click on the “Summary” link to see those. However, that won’t include visitor stats.
