Trouble Getting a Page to Publish…
-
I am using WordPress for a writing class, and we have to set up different pages in addition to blog posts, which I ‘think’ I have on my parent page. I can see the other pages, but my professor cannot; they aren’t publishing. I’ve done all the things the help pages and internet said to try, and I’ve tried to copy and start new pages; nothing seems to be working. Any ideas, smart bloggers? Thanks in advance.

Hi @melissatayloromaha, could it be that the pages are password protected, or that they are in draft status?
I see a list of pages here:
https://wordpress.com/pagesOnly one page, aside from the front page, is visible publicly. Can you let us know which page the professor is trying to access?

Hi! Thank you so much! Those are all the pages I was trying to test. I just need one of the book review pages to show up…that’s the one I’m struggling to get to appear (they’re all the same–in my frustration and irritation, I just kept trying). They all show as published on my end, and I did password protect one (as instructed in the class), but the main page has the password. The issue seems to be an inability to see the link/access/navigation on my home page. Is that supposed to happen automatically? (Although I guess I did send the professor the link to the book review directly and she still couldn’t get to it). Any further thoughts? Thanks; I really appreciate it.

Hi there,
The issue seems to be an inability to see the link/access/navigation on my home page. Is that supposed to happen automatically?
Whether or not it happens automatically depends on both your theme, and if you already have a custom menu set.
Some themes have a default menu that will automatically link to any new page you publish on your site, but if your site has a custom menu that will override the default. And some themes don’t have a default menu at all, but will only show a menu if you create a custom one.
In this case, your theme doesn’t include a menu by default, but you can create one by adding a Navigation block.
Go to Appearance ->Customize ->Menus. There you can create a new menu and assign it to one of your theme’s menu areas. Then you can add the specific pages you want to the menu. We have a step by step overview of the process here:

Nailed it!! Thank you SO much; I simply added a ‘pages list’ block & everything appeared (& I immediately had to take down all my rage pages!!!). :) I really appreciate all the help here; I was at wit’s end.
With much gratitude!
Melissa
