trouble importing Blogger blog – is there a file size limit?
-
Hi, I’m trying to import from Blogger the file size is 33,342KB to a free WordPress site but it keeps failing. Is the file size too large? Can anyone help? Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi marchoftimebooks,
15MB is the maximum support file size for imports on WordPress.com.
It would be worth checking that only your content has been exported from Blogger (not the themes). The
Back up your bloginformation will help ensure only the content has been exported:https://support.google.com/blogger/answer/41387?hl=en&rd=1
Let me know how you get on.

Hi, thanks for your help.
It is only backing up content but my Blogger blog contains a LOT of posts/comments/images. Would the 15MB (should that be KB?) increase on a paid plan? -
Hi @booksmarchhousebookscom, yeah it’s 15MB for imports, regardless of plan. If needed, there are tools to split imports into smaller chunks.
The XML file you get should not contain images though. What file type are you ending up with?

We have used the backup in Blogger which produced the .xml file. On previous import to our other blog it worked perfectly but it was a much smaller file so can only assume it’s something to do with size although it doesn’t give any details of the error it is encountering.
Can you supply details of tools to split imports into smaller chunks and we will see if that makes a difference?
Many thanks.

Hi there,
The only one I know about is https://github.com/suhastech/Wordpress-WXR-Splitter
That’s for Mac OS, though. If you’re on Windows you’d have to search online for a similar app for that.
