trouble importing from posterous

i am trying to import from posterous…i am following all instructions…i pick the .xml file and it tells me it is not a .xml file…so it will not import the information…now what…?

Could you try a different browser, like Firefox or Chrome, http://browsehappy.com sometimes that has worked (really the number of people with this issue is more than just a few…..)
This thread will be tagged for staff support, so they can help you do the import on their end, if a different browser doesn’t work, so subscribe to ensure you are notified of replies.

how will a different browser help.? the file is on my system as an .xml but wordpress says it is not that type of file when i try to import it. not sure how to fix. still having trouble.

A different browser can help because some browsers seem to be incompatible to be honest. I’m just recommending you do this, since other people (like this person: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/why-cant-i-import-my-posterous-wordpress_export_1xml-file?replies=6#post-1239976) have found that using a different browser that is the most recent version, works. For whatever reason that is, I have no idea, it’s just a known fix to this issue.
If you don’t want to do this, staff will be able to assist when they get around to it, and I’m surprised they haven’t already to be honest.

I tested your import file and it seems to be working just fine, so I’ve initiated the import to your cdawns.wordpress.com site. I will post here again once the import has completed – sometimes it can take up to an hour.
