Trouble importing OPML links from elsewhere to my blogroll

  Hi,

  I’ve been trying to import the blogroll http://methoblog.com/?q=aggregator/opml (as described at http://methoblog.com/?q=node/109) to my blog. I click Write – Links – Import Links and paste in the OPML URL quoted. I then get a page describing all the links that have been imported, and which invites me to click at the bottom to go to Manage – Links. When I go there, the new links are not there. Furthermore, the specific category I’ve tried to import them to isn’t visible in the drop-down box to filter anyway.

  I’ve tried importing to other categories in my blogroll to no avail. I’ve tried downloading the OPML file to my PC and then uploading it to my blog. I’ve also searched the FAQ and these forums. If anyone has any suggestions, I’d be very grateful.

  To the best of my knowledge, you can’t import with categories. Instructions on importing here

  Hi justjennifer,

  Thanks for your reply. I’ve been referring to the URL you cite already to no avail, I’m afraid. I just went back and tried importing the OPML file generally into ‘Blogroll’ rather than one of the categories I’d set up (which were available in the drop-down box), with a view then to amending them manually. However, they still didn’t appear.

  Are you hosted here at wordpress.COM? If so, then you may need to contact support. If not, you are in the wrong support forum.

  Would bigcircumstance.com be you? Try the instructions on exporting / importing here
  http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/?s=opml If that doesn’t work, by all means contact Support from your Dashboard.

  Yes, I am bigcircumstance.com. Thank you for the instructions at the URL you recommended. Unfortunately, they didn’t work, even when I downloaded the OPML file to my PC and changed it to a .txt file. I got exactly the same results.

  I’m going to take up your suggestion and contact Support.
