Trouble loading non-YouTube video…
-
Hello,
You all have been very helpful the past, so I am optimistic about getting more good advice.
I would like to insert the video on this page:
http://www.popularmechanics.com/science/research/4286850.html?series=60at the end of this blog post:
http://trackerblog.instedd.org/2008/12/02/matchmaking-on-soil-lost-ideas-terra-preta-carbon-sequestration-and-amy-b-smith/I tried vodpod, but had no success. I actually tried vodpod once before and discovered that it automatically inserted the video at the top of the post and I couldn’t seem to move it.
Thoughts?
Thanks!
– Janet
p.s.
While I have your attention, is there a way to get rid of the automatically generated related post links? They’re a big tone deaf…

I personally can’t help you for the main entry, but to get rid of the automatically generated posts, just go into your design area, click extra, and make sure that the second option (Hide related links on this blog, which means this blog won’t show up on other blogs or get traffic that way) is checked.
It should be it.

thanks! I’d really be curious to know how much traffic those links drive. They really are weird more often than not… A little like Google ads! cheers, Janet

I’m not sure what issues you are having with VodPod, as it has been my experience that any video that I can grab, I can put whereever I want it to go in my post. Perhaps it is your browser – what are you using?
The videos that we can use here are all listed in the FAQ.

Hello Vivian,
I am using firefox on a Macbook Pro with Leopard. How do you place the video where you want it? Is it a drag and drop sort of thing?
thanks!

Try using the Vodpod button to put it in, then click over to the HTML editor and cut and paste the rest of your stuff around it. It’s a bit primitive, but it should work. I’ve never tried to move a Vodpod video and I noticed that they all seem to go flush left on my blog.
-
What I’ve generally done is use the VodPod post to blog thing, which creates a new post. Then I just copy the info from that one and paste it where I want it in my post.
