Trouble logging in to my wordpress

    My website uses WordPress but is hosted elsewhere. When I try to post to my page as always, I’m told I need to refresh my connection to Facebook. When I click the button to do that, it asks me to log in, I try to log in with the username/email address and password that I have always used, and it tells me the account does not exist. When I try to create another account with the same name, it tells me that name is taken.

    I try the retrieve password function, and it tells me again that the account or email address doesn’t exist to send the email to.

    I started WordPress so many years ago that it’s impossible to find any original email that supposedly has a code on it identifying me as the owner. I don’t think I had the two step authentication thing, but even if I did, it is not finding my account to check it apparently… and now, I’ve searched for a way to chat with WordPress support, and I’m seeing that the only thing I’m able to do is ask in the forums, despite having hit the ‘chat with us’ button on the WordPress site.

    Gotta tell ya, I’m getting rather frustrated with WordPress right now.

    I suspect this problem is a result of having my hosting company have to go in and fix whatever was broken on WordPress a couple weeks ago that had my whole site down, but they say they’ve done everything they can to fix this problem for me and I need to talk to WordPress about it.

    So, I’m hoping maybe one of you brilliant humans in the forums might be able to shed a little light on this for me, since we’re obviously not actually allowed to talk to a WordPress support person who might be paid to do that sort of thing. :)

    But seriously, any help would be appreciated! :)

    Hi there, could you let us know the URL of the site you’re having trouble with? Please bear in mind that we are able to help with sites that are hosted here with us on WordPress.com, but for sites using the WordPress software from WordPress.org, there is a community forum at this address:
