trouble logging on
-
I have a blog on wordpress but I haven’t logged in for a year. When I tried to now, it didn’t recognize my email address. To reset my password I need proof of ownership that I can’t find. I searched my email for wordpress.com and don’t find anything there. Where can I find the proof, and why would it be that my email address is not in the system? Thanks!

Hi there,
Would you mind sharing the site that you are trying to access?
Are you certain it was a WordPress.com account and not a WordPress.org account?
WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate. They have a separate login, separate support documentation, and separate support forums.
This site explains the difference between the two.
If you are sure it’s a WordPress.com account, we can tag this post as “modlook” and a staff member will reach out to see if they can help get you back in. :-)
Hope that helps! Let me know.

Thank you so much for your response. I vaguely remember having some confusion a few years ago about this issue of wordpress.com vs. wordpress.org…. Perhaps that is the issue…but my site is marjoriefaulstichorellana.com – and I swear I always used to log in by going to marjoriefaulstichorellana/Admin. That takes me to a log in page that looks familiar, but the system doesn’t recognize me nor does it let me retrieve my password.
I went to http://www.wordpress.org right now, but couldn’t see a way to try to log in.
Thanks again for your help!

Oops! I see it buried up there http://marjoriefaulstichorellana.com sorry.
marjoriefaulstichorellana.com is a wordpress.ORG software install on paid hosting, hosted by GoDaddy.com
Name Servers:
ns14.domaincontrol.com
ns13.domaincontrol.comThis is WordPress.COM support and that site is not on our servers. For hosting issues contact your web host. For software support read on.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
We do not provide support for local installs of WordPress.ORG software, or for WordPress.ORG software installs on paid hosting, linked to WordPress.COM accounts with the Jetpack plugin so they display on the My Sites WordPress.COM account page.
The wordpress.ORG support forum is at http://wordpress.org/support.
The wordpress.ORG login link is here https://login.wordpress.org/
If you do not have an account yet then click Create an account https://login.wordpress.org/register/ and if you have lost an account password click Lost password? https://login.wordpress.org/lostpassword/
WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page
See also https://apps.wordpress.org/support/ for app support.Jetpack support
Some Jetpack solutions are here http://jetpack.com/support/
Others are in the Jetpack support forum at WordPress.org
http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack
However, if help cannot be found at either one then they can file a Jetpack support ticket here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/?jetpack=needs-service -
Thank you so much! So confusing, these two sites – the log on pages even look alike…Still trying to get logged in, but I’ll ask WordPress.org for help. Your quick response is much appreciated.
