Trouble mapping domain, paid for the mapping but it doesn't show in 'my domains'

    I have been charged for the domain mapping on my credit card but the domain I tried to map does not appear in ‘my domains’ on my blog. I have changed the name servers to the WordPress name servers on the registry site that I purchased the domain from. When I type in the domain name directly I get this error message: “The server can’t be found, because the DNS lookup failed. DNS is the network service that translates a website’s name to its Internet address. This error is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall”. Help please, what am I doing wrong?

    Hi there. Have you followed all the instructions here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

    You not only need to update your nameservers, but you also need to insert the domain you’re mapping to into WordPress. It won’t appear automatically.

    If you’ve followed all these steps and it still won’t work, let us know.

    Hi thanks for your reply,
    In the instructions I am up to number 4, but cannot proceed because there is no other domain name for me to switch to showing on my account. I have entered my external domain name into WordPress (clicked map a domain I already own) and have been charged for the site mapping to my credit card last week, so I know it went through, but now it does not appear as an option from my primary WP domain.

    I’ve tagged this thread for staff to follow up. They’ll probably need to know what your custom domain is, so can you please provide that as well.

    Then make sure you’re subscribed to the thread so you are notified when they respond and be patient while waiting.
