Trouble migrating followers from wordpress.com to self-hosted
-
Hi, I’m trying to migrate followers from a wordpress.com site to a self-hosted wordpress site. I followed the instructions here:
http://jetpack.me/support/subscription-migration-tool/
But the select box “Select WordPress.com Site” is empty for me.
Any help will be appreciated!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

When we need Staff help with issues Volunteers cannot resolve like this one we type modlook into the sidebar tags on our forum threads. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Then we subscribe to this thread so we are notified when they respond. Hello Yogi,
Have you read this already: https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/moving-your-subscribers/
It looks like there are some preparation steps you need to take before transferring your subscribers…
1. On your self-hosted WordPress site, install the Jetpack plugin, connect it to WordPress.com with your WordPress.com username, and make sure the Subscriptions module is activated.
2. Optionally, add the Jetpack Subscriptions widget to your sidebar.
3. Optionally, on your WordPress.com site from which you’ll want to transfer your followers, post a notice telling your site’s followers that you’ll be moving, and that their subscriptions will be going along with you. This is because, while your email subscribers will continue to receive email notifications of new posts as before, WordPress.com followers will only see new posts in the Reader. They will not receive email updates unless they subscribe to receive those on your new site, which they can do if you’ve added the Subscriptions widget.
3. Once Jetpack is connected and ready to go, and you’ve informed your readers about the upcoming move, you can transfer your subscribers right from your WordPress.com user account by following the steps outlined in the Subscription Migration Tool guide. If you prefer, contact us and we’ll move your subscribers for you.Hope that helps…

Hi forevermelody,
Thanks for your note. Yes I have done all of the preparation .. Jetpack is installed, connected to my wordpress.com account, and the subscriptions module is activated. I followed the steps in the guide.
The problem is that the select box which should contain my WordPress.com hosted site… is empty.

You have to be logged in under the correct username account.
Will you please just wait for Staff assistance? -
@yogisanonymous
What is the URL of the WordPress.com site from which you want to transfer the followers, and what is the URL of the Jetpack connected site? -
Okay. The problem here is that the dearally site does not belong to this account. This account is an admin on that site, but another username is the owner.
You will only be able to transfer the subscribers, and I can also only help you to do that, if both sites belong to the same account.
If you own the account that owns the dearally blog as well, then I suggest you log into that account, and transfer that site to this account so that this username becomes the owner. Once you’ve done that, the site should appear in the subscription manager in Jetpack. You can find instructions to transfer the blog to another account here:

Actually… yes please :)
I’m now logged in as the owner of dearally.wordpress.com but I can’t see how to transfer the site to the other account. Can you guide me please?
Thanks!

Hello again @kokkieh,
So I’ve successfully transferred the followers to the new site but I now want to delete the dearally.wordpress.com site. It tells me:
You have active premium upgrades on your site. Please cancel your upgrades prior to deleting your site.
However, I can’t seem to find a way to do that. Can you please help?
Thanks!
Dorian

I have removed those upgrades for you, so you should be able to delete that site now.
Please keep in mind that deleting a WordPress.com site is permanent, and you’ll never be able to use that address again, so consider setting it to private instead if there’s any chance of that.
I also want to mention that we can also transfer your stats from the old site to your Jetpack-connected one if you want us do. I’ll have to do that before you delete the old site, so let me know if you want to do that.
-
Okay, I have merged those stats for you as well, so your new site should be showing all your old stats now.
Happy New Year to you also.
