Trouble paying domain name
-
I am trying to pay the domain for transitionsfilmfestival.com but when i click on the link in the email i am taken to a page that asks if i want to upgrade my plan which i do not. Please let me know where i go to play the domain? From the dashboard i have clicked on Store Domains and i am sent to the same page with no payment options. Thanks, Angie
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I am a user with full administration rights and have under the same login been able to pay it in the past, has something changed?

I’ve added modlook to the tags in the right column of this page, to bring it to the attention of WordPress.com staff so they can help you.
(The “logged in with wrong username” issue is just the most frequent cause when people don’t see a domain renewal or payment option they expect to find.)

You are an admin on the site, but you are not the owner of the domain. In the past other admins on a site could renew upgrades they don’t own, but now only the account that owns the upgrade can renew it.
That domain is owned by the username account, verbstudios, so you’ll need to ask that person to log in and pay for the domain.
I also see the domain only expires on 16 November, so there is still quite a bit of time to sort this out. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Kokkieh, thank you for clarifying, so it has changed. Yes in the past i was able to pay it. I will hopefully be able to get in touch with the domain owner to log in and pay it. In case this is not possible will there be any other way or do we risk losing the domain name because of this wordpress change? Cheers, Angie

If it’s really at the point where you can lose the domain we can set up a manual payment, but we’d really prefer not to do that as it plays havoc with our accounting and would just be a stop-gap until next year, when you’ll have the same problem all over again :)

@justjennifer
We can do that, but only at the current owner’s request. This is especially true with domains, as ICANN’s rules regarding domain ownership is very strict.@amucc
In this case, the other user is also the owner of the site itself, so if that person is no longer involved with the site, it might be the best option if you can somehow get in touch with them and ask them to transfer the entire site, along with the domain, to an admin that is still active on the site. That way the new admin can take over full control of all aspects of the site. -
