Trouble Posting From Code

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi guys,

I recently got accepted into a group called the “thoroughbred blogger’s alliance” that covers horse racing. I have some code I’m supposed to display in my blog that shows what looks like table driven info showing the top horses in different categories, etc.

When I try and post the code, it comes up rather funky in my blog. Here’s the code that I received:

    <a href="http://www.twinspires.com"><img border="0" style="FLOAT: center; MARGIN: 0px; WIDTH: 155px; CURSOR: hand" alt src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_vN1Vhel4nlA/Rmm4Z89WUbI/AAAAAAAAAV0/c4RGu8LLeYs/s1600/155x40churchill.gif" img="online betting horse racing"/></a>
    <iframe width="155" frameborder="0" src="http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pT04TkBLQ1tv8tzJOPKOybQ&output=html&gid=12&single=true&range=a1:b4" height="70"></iframe>
    <a href="http://www.premierturfclub.com"><img border="0" style="FLOAT: center; MARGIN: 0px; WIDTH: 155px; CURSOR: hand" alt src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_vN1Vhel4nlA/Rpeaj_cTFCI/AAAAAAAAAYM/YUeHjvHES7w/s400/PTCSMALL.JPG" img="online betting horse racing"/></a>

I can put this in my blog again if you need to see how it comes up in my widget. For now I’ve removed that widget as it was leaving all sorts of text code and stuff all over the place.

It’s not javascript, so I know that’s not the problem. :)

Here’s an example of the tables showing up as they should on a WP dot Org blog (note the red white and blue “TBA standings” in the far right hand column). That’s what we’re shooting for.

Thanks in advance, any help is tremendously appreciated.

    It’s iframe which isn’t allowed.

oops – here’s the link to the dot org blog that has it displayed properly as a reference:

    Thanks

Ah….had no idea what iframe is. If I can get the images of the tables sent to me, can I post them somehow that way?

  • Unknown's avatar

iframes. That’s the problem. It will never, ever work at WordPress.com. Ask them if they have a no-iframes, no javascript option.

Should have continued: due to security concerns, just like javascript, forms and shockwave flash.

rats! I’ll ask if they have other options. The main guy has been able to send me links to the images of the tables that are supposed to be displayed. I wonder if there’s any chance I could use those? I’m such a newb still.

If you can get images of the tables, yes, you can post those. But the thing is, they won’t update. You’ll have to change them by hand.

Best bet is straight-up links in a text widget.

Thanks as always TSP and Raincoaster!

I’m going to try the images route. I don’t mind the manual updating.
