I am trying to remove the photo from a published post ‘ Just what the world needs . . .’ When offered a view from the dashboard it is gone, but going to the website the square tapestry photo with caption is still there. What am I doing wrong?
The blog I need help with is authentictextiles.com.

Hi there, how are you trying to remove the photo?
Could you please try clicking on the photo, and then clicking the “delete” icon, as seen in this screenshot?

If this doesn’t work, please let me know and I’ll try it from this end if that’s alright with you. Thanks!

When I go to edit this post the photo is not there. When I look at the revisions the photo is not on the last one. When I go to View the photo is gone, but when I go to the website independently the tapestry photo and caption are there.
I went back to a revision before I took out the photo and clicked the photo and delete symbol. Clicked update. All seemed to work, but when I refresh to see the real site the photo and caption are still there.
Yes, please try from your end.
I am on Safari and it caused a problem a couple of weeks ago, but I have upgraded since. Thanks so much.

Just to confirm – could you paste a link here from the edit screen to the specific post from which you’re trying to remove the photo? I see two with similar names:
Just what the world needs – another blog – Draft
https://authentictextiles.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=87&action=editJust what the world needs – another blog
https://authentictextiles.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=8&action=editWhich of these two is the one you’re referring to? Thanks!

It is the one that is published:
https://authentictextiles.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=8&action=editAlthough I tried to unpublish it and that didn’t work either.
Thank you.

Thanks for the link. I don’t see a photograph in that post, either on the public side or in your dashboard:

Dashboard: http://cl.ly/image/132G1R0E3G09
Would you mind taking a screenshot of where you see the image to help in troubleshooting?
Here’s a guide on how to make a screenshot, if you’re not sure: http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/
Please include the full browser window so I can see the URL of the page.
You can upload the screenshot in your Media Library so I can see it. Thanks!

Good morning! I have now placed what I see when I go to authentictextiles.com in my media file for you to see. Thanks for your help.
-
Thanks for the screenshot!
That post is actually a different one than the one you linked earlier (post 8) – it’s post 92, which you can edit here:
https://authentictextiles.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=92&action=edit
This is actually a static page that you’ve set as your homepage. Once you remove the image from there it should disappear from your site. Let me know how it goes!
-
OK, I’m really confused. First, how do you know this is a static page and it is set as my homepage? When I look at the link I don’t see where that is noted/shown. How did you find this post 92?
Second, I sent yesterday what I thought was the link to the published blog post. It was listed as published, I clicked it and copied the link. I don’t understand why it wasn’t the right link.
I’m missing something fundamental here and it is driving me crazy.

First, how do you know this is a static page and it is set as my homepage?
I knew that right away based on two things:
1) It’s in the Pages section of your site, not Posts
2) The Permalink is set to your homepage
You can see those things in the screenshot here:
http://cl.ly/image/0r1h2f2G1742
You can also see the page listed among your other pages here:

When I go to Settings > Reading, I can also see this page selected as your static front page:

If you want your posts to display somewhere, you’ll probably want to to assign them to a placeholder page. Right now, you see how there’s no page selected next to “Posts page:”? This is why your posts aren’t accessible anywhere except through your Recent Posts widget right now. You can read more here about how to set this up. Briefly, you just need to create a new page called Blog (or something else) and then select this page from the dropdown menu next to “Posts page:”. You’ll then be able to link to the Blog page from your menu and elsewhere.
Let me know if you need any more help with this!

Big Ah-ha! moment. Thanks so much. I knew last night it had something to do with Pages but couldn’t quite get there. Your help has been invaluable.
-
Yay! Glad to hear it’s making more sense now. :-)
My pleasure to help, and just let me know if you need anything else!

Sorry to be back, but still having trouble.
Removed the Home page. Changed settings to not have a static home page, and instead show most recent blog and made the post sticky. Still, when I go to the website I get this – nothing. I put a screen shot in the media library. The view on the Dashboard shows the post though. Why the difference? -
I think problem is your “more” tag before your content. Switch to Text view and remove this before and after your post:
<!--more-->The “more” tag tag is usually meant for long posts that you want to break up into several pages’ worth. As this post is only a paragraph, it’s not needed.
Let me know if this doesn’t do the trick.

So many tricks! Will I ever learn them all?
That did it. Thank you again. My angel for the day. -
