Trouble staying logged in while posting comments and "Likes"

This problem might have begun when Google Chrome updated.

When I am logged in, sometimes when I go to another WordPress blog page, I seem to be logged out: my black bar doesn’t show along the top of my screen, and when I click in the Comment box, I am prompted to log in. This is happening almost every time that I leave a comment.

When I click on the W icon, it seems to log me in, but when I enter a comment and click on the Post Comment button, I get the message,

“Sorry, this comment could not be posted.”

When I click on a “Like” button, the page refreshes, and my Like doesn’t register.

I found that if I leave a browser tab open to WordPress.com, logged in, then I might do better, but not as well as before Chrome updated. If I refresh that page before opening another blog page, that might help. Firefox is working without any of these problems.

Today, I was editing a post, and had to sign in to leave a comment while my draft was saving on another tab — on the same browser window! Then, even though I signed in using the form, on the next screen:

“Sorry, this comment could not be posted.”

Instead of clicking on the WordPress W under the comment box to sign in, I found that I must fill out the form, making sure to click in each field (don’t just copy and paste)…maybe. I am trying to make sense of this nonsense.

Am I misinterpreting any of these symptoms? Is anyone else finding a workaround for this problem…or a solution? I really would like to stay logged in all day.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com?

Does this only happen using Chrome? What version of Chrome are you using please?

    Have you tried another browser?

Make sure that you have both third-party cookies enabled and JavaScript enabled

Could you try enabling HTTPS in your account, by going to Users > Personal Settings in your dashboard and checking the box next to “Always use HTTPS when visiting administration pages”?

Also, if you have any browser extensions or add-ons, can you please try disabling them to see if that makes a difference?

I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

I’m sorry. I forgot you said:

Firefox is working without any of these problems.

Thank you for your response to this and so many other posts on these forums.

    I am using a laptop, Win 8.0., Chrome 35.0.1916.153 m

I had already verified that cookies and javascript were enabled for WordPress, and enabled https, and subscribed to this thread. I verified these settings just now.

I will try disabling my browser extensions and add-ons to see if that makes a difference, and will report back.

Thank you for referring this issue for Staff assistance.

I am having the same exact issue over here: http://vortexeffect.net/

Chrome, Firefox, IE, cleared cookies and history…doesn’t matter. I can use several other WordPress sites including my own blog just fine.
