Trouble transferring domain
-
I have two blogs under one username. Each one has a different email address associated with it. But with the first blog (RunBikeThrow) I want to reply to comments as RunBikeThrow, and with my second blog (Happy Planet Running) I want to reply to comments as that “persona” with its own Gravatar.
I tried creating a new username for Happy Planet Running but it won’t accept the email address because “it’s already taken”. I tried inviting my other email to join as an admin, but the confirmation is rejected.
How can I get done what I want to get done?
Blog 1: runbikethrow.net – email (email visible only to moderators and staff)
Blog 2: happyplanetrunning.org – email (email visible only to moderators and staff)The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Emails on WordPress.com are associated with accounts, not sites, so you can’t have sites in the same account associated with different emails.
At the moment in this account, jwjackson61, you have four sites:
1) jeffreyjackson.wordpress.com with two custom domains, fitnessat50.net and runbikethrow.net
2) happyplanetrunning.wordpress.com with two custom domains, happyplanetrunning.com and happyplanetrunning.org
3) theamateurchocoholic.wordpress.com with no upgrades
4) talkingbeans.wordpress.com with no upgrades
This account and all the sites in it is associated with a @comcast.net email address.
There is no WordPress.com username account associated with the @runbikethrow.net email address you provided.
The Gmail address you provided is associated with the username account, happyplanetrunning. That username is an admin on the happyplanetrunning.wordpress.com site, but owns neither the site nor the domains connected to it. jwjackson61 owns it.
If you want to reply to comments on happyplanetrunning.wordpress.com as the username, happyplanetrunning, you need to log out of the jwjackson61 account and log in as happyplanetrunning before you reply to comments. You can use your jwjackson61 to manage content on that site, and you can select happyplanetrunning to show as author when you create a post, but comments will always show the username as which you were logged in when making the comment.
If you want to completely transfer the happyplanetrunning.wordpress.com site and its associated domains to the happyplanetrunning username, i.e. make it so that username owns it and jwjackson61 has no access to that site, you can do it by following the instructions here:
Transferring a Site to Another WordPress.com Account
Note that you will first need to transfer the custom domains before you try to transfer the site itself.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks! I was having trouble in two areas. First, I couldn’t log in as happyplanetrunning. Fixed that, but still couldn’t associate that username with comments using Reply from the actual posted page. Had to go to the Comments area under Admin to create a reply that worked properly.
I will probably transfer the new blog completely at some point, although it seems a lot more complication to do so than it should. Thanks again.

That’s probably related to browser cookies. If you completely delete all WordPress.com cookies between logging out of one account and into the other, that should work correctly.
Another option is to use separate browsers for the separate accounts, e.g. Chrome for the jwjackson61 account and Firefox for the happyplanetrunning account. That way you won’t need to constantly switch accounts.
