Trouble trying to get rid of an old widget

    A very long time ago I installed a ‘lava lamp clock’ widget on my blog. The widget is causing problems, so I wish to have it removed and not replaced.

    On my dashboard (not the one on WordPress.com), I click on the sidebar links: Appearance|Widgets, and I no longer see arrangements as to what is placed where; all I see are widgets are anything but the lava lamp clock, in a single-column list, which no longer supports drag-and-drop.

    So, how do I get rid of this widget? I can’t find it listed anywhere sensible. The Widgets page has a button at the top saying ‘Manage with live preview’, but when I click on that, all I get is a blank page with a button saying ‘Edit with Google analytics Stats’, which doesn’t do anything when I click on it.

    I wish I could show you a screenshot, but this editor doesn’t appear to allow images. However, I can paste the source code for the entire web page that I was shown:

    			Edit widget: Google Analytics Stats

    			Edit
    			Add
    			Google Analytics Stats

    	Google Analytics Stats
    	</div>

    	<div class="widget-inside">
    	<div class="form">	<div class="widget-content">

    Thanks for any help you may offer.

    I should add also that I work on my configuration with WordPress on an Off-site location, sj.foodsci.info, that is not amenable to using WordPress.com to manage my site, for complex reasons. The most compelling reason being that my blog is not my full-time job, it is a hobby, and configuring remote management of my blog would be more trouble than it is worth, even though I trust that the features are probably spiffy, but I am not all that concerned. I have many workarounds that make up for it.

    The WordPress version I am using is 4.9.4.

    You’re asking in the wrong forum I’m afraid. This support forum can only assist with free sites hosted at WordPress.com. As you’re using the WordPress.org software on your site you can register an account with:
