Trouble Uploading Word or PDF Documents
-
About a week ago I was having trouble uploading Word documents and PDF’s to my blog when I had no problems up to that point doing so.
The problem was, I would “Upload” the file and then Title it and then watch as it came up as a dead link with just words on the page. I recieved advice from this forum to not click “Upload to Post” but “File Link” first. I did that I thought it worked because the link was no longer dead but it was highlighted like th others. I just realized last night though that the links dont open up the file but lead to here: “http://daltonlifsey.com/resources/File%20URL”
Does anyone know what that means and how I can remedy this persistent situation? The page that I’m working on is:
http://daltonlifsey.com/resources
You can see that the top 4 or so files come up with the dead link.
Thank you so much!

First, there are some new settings for media. Go to settings > media and in the top section, select “file” under “default media links”.
To correct the links, go to the media library and click on the “show” link for the PDF or Word doc, and the URL of the file should show in the “link URL” field. You can then copy it and put it into your posts.

How do I then “copy it and put it into my posts?”
I clicked on the “show” and the URL shows. But STILL it comes up as “http://daltonlifsey.com/resources/File%20URL” on my site when I insert it. Any ideas?

That file has somehow gotten messed up. I would delete it and then upload and insert it again.
When I try to view it, it comes back with a 404 file not found error.

Yeah. I cant figure out why. I’ve deleted them and have been reuploading them. Im about to give up. SInce about a week ago or so I havent been able to get anything to upload properly.
