Trouble using some functions on the site
-
Recently returned after a long absence. Site still does not seem to be recognizing me for some functions. I cannot ‘like’ or ‘follow’ blogs from the actual blogs. Can only do those things from the reader, or from my notifications. When I’m prompted to enter my email address in order to comment or follow, I get an error message telling me to enter a valid email address. I still use the same email address that I did before, although when I first tried to come back, the password reset wasn’t being sent there until after I sent a message to the help center.
I’m wondering if it’s because I didn’t remember my user name or my password when I first came back. it shows me still as being logged in as grannieo2010. I’m wondering if it has something to do with that, since now when I log in, I use my email address rather than my username. I just don’t know. I’m happy to be back and able to use the blog again to a degree, but it would definitely be much nicer and easier if I could figure out the problem and get back the full use of the site.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

hi,
I would suggest you do a password reset and get back to your WordPress.com account with a new password. You can reset the password from here. You should be able to use your email ID which is registered with WordPress.com or the username (Grannieo2010) and get your password reset.Further reading:-

Thank you! I actually did successfully reset my password, which is how I’m back on my account at all, for which I was very grateful. I went to the account recovery instructions that you linked above to do it, and it said if you don’t remember your username to use the email. So the password was reset, and I’m able to log into the blog and to post blogs, access my stats and dashboard and all. It’s just in some areas where I seem to be having the trouble with full access. So do you think I need to do it again and try using the username? I guess I’m kind of afraid to do so for fear I’ll get locked out altogether if that doesn’t work. It’s an idea though, and I appreciate it!!

No, please don’t reset the password again. Try logging out and logging back again. Also try using a different browser to access your WordPress.com account and see if that helps.
Mean while please do let us know in detail as to where specifically you have issues. Please elaborate on what you mean by not having full access. -
@grannieo2010
Is it possible that you have more than one username account?Do you have more than one blog registered under this username account and associated email address? https://en.forums.wordpress.com/profile/grannieo2010
Also may we please confirm exactly which blog you are experiencing this on?
http://mylifeuncutalmost.wordpress.com/
or
https://morejourneythroughmyeyes.wordpress.com/
or another blog (if so post the URL)? -
Once we are sure which username account registered which blog and which blog you are having issues with we will ask you to go to > Dashboard > Users > All Users
https://INSERT_NAME_OF_BLOG_HERE/wp-admin/users.php
There you can check to see exactly what Role that username account has on the blog in question, because sometimes bloggers demote themselves from Admin to a lesser role on the blog that does not have full function and feature access like the Admin role does.

I actually just did log out and back in using the username instead of the email address, and it logged me in fine. I tried to go like a page afterward, and it still didn’t work. I was formerly getting some kind of popup when I’d click the like button that never completely displayed, and would just flash on the screen for a second and then go away. That didn’t happen this time, at least. But the like still doesn’t work from the page.
When I say I’m not getting full access, I’m not able to ‘like’ or ‘follow’ blogs from the blog pages themselves. I have to do it either from my notifications or from the ‘reader’ section of the blog, where I access all the blogs that I follow from a list. I have had trouble commenting on blogs also, unless I do it from the reader, where I don’t have a problem. I would get an error message when I entered the email, telling me to enter a valid email. I also can’t access my notifications from the drop down menu on the right of the page. They never load. Thankfully, a blogging friend who never deleted me in spite of my long access, sent me a link to access my notifications. Not sure how she did that, but it works and shows the notifications. So I saved that link and have been using it to get to the comments, likes, and follows on my page.
I use Firefox as my browser. We have internet explorer on here too, and I could try that. I’ve tried that google browser that some people like, but hate it. Can’t remember right now what it’s called. I actually hate explorer too because it would bump me off a lot in the past when I used it, but can try it. I’m hoping to get it resolved on Firefox if at all possible, but at least I can see if the problem is with Firefox somehow. My daughter and granddaughter use explorer on their computers all the time and seem to like it.

Thank you, time thief, it’s my blog, My Life Uncut…Almost. The web address for it is mylifeuncutalmost.wordpress.com. I haven’t used the morejourneythroughmyeyes in a very long time. I had that formerly, and abandoned it altogether and started this one. I didn’t want to, but couldn’t access it after an absence. This one, I didn’t want to abandon because of all the time and so much of my life that I invested in it. It was a very bad time, and this blog was a wonderful outlet and connection with some wonderful people. My absence has just been because my life was very busy and chaotic for awhile.
I haven’t been back to the 20 Lines A Day except for a few minutes. I’m so behind with blogs I followed and still trying to play catch up and even to find some of them again. I think some others have abandoned theirs as I did for awhile.

I do seem to still have admin rights to the blog. I can access that from my dashboard, anyway.
-
Clicking was not intended. What was intended was for you to replace the phrase “insert the correct blog address” and then click.
-
Oh. LOL…sorry but I have to laugh at myself. I’m very tired today and that’s sort of a ‘duh’, isn’t it? Sorry about that.

The two blogs that I have access to through this account, by the way…I apologize that I may not have clearly responded to that…are my personal blog, mylifeuncutalmost.wordpress.com and the other one is to 20 Lines a Day an exercise in discipline. I was made an admin of that previously, but because I have been gone for so long, I have not gone in to use that right, which was not really a right but a privilege granted to me that I don’t feel I have the right to since I sort of disappeared from the blog for so long. Could that be causing a problem? It doesn’t seem to be what’s interfering, since I haven’t even tried to switch to that site from my dashboard since coming back.

Okay, I logged in with explorer. Had to use the classic wordpress in order to get on, but was able to ‘like’ a page without a bit of difficulty from there. So it must be a problem with Firefox. I will have to see if my son can help me with that, I guess. Thank you for all of your help, and I apologize for your time. But I do appreciate it. At least I know where the problem lies now.

I’m going to leave this topic unresolved for the moment, until I make sure that the browser support is the problem for everything. All I’ve checked so far is to make sure I’m still listed as the administrator, and to see if I could ‘like’ a post from Explorer. Tried to update Explorer too so that it would support the new dashboard instead of the classic one, but it didn’t work. I don’t have the time at the moment to check everything out. Thanks again for your help, simplysaru and timethief. I greatly appreciate it, and will be back after all is checked out, either to ask for more help or mark this resolved. :)

I suggest you check you are using the latest version of Firefox. If you aren’t please update Firefox. Also do clear the cache of firefox. If that doesn’t fix the issue, please try resetting Firefox after clearing the cache.
Hopefully one of these suggestions should get the Likes feature to work. Do keep us posted.
