Trouble with Comments not posting

Dear WordPress, a few loyal readers of my blog have been having a really hard time posting comments lately. I allow comments, they have been frequent commenters for 13 years, but often they just can’t get comment to appear. They tell me they often get user message, “Oops, look like you’ve already posted this,” but the comment is not appearing. I feel terrible, because the comments are a really thoughtful part of the blog. Is there a particular glitch recently, and anything we can do to get rid of it?? Thank you much.

We’d need some more information to investigates this a bit more. Do these commenters have WordPress.com accounts or do they comment using their email address and name?
Also, did you check if those comments appear in the Spam folder here?

excellent point about searching in spam. i found two comments (from one person) that hadn’t posted! i think the ones having trouble posting include both those with and without wordpress.com accounts. i will try to discern more relevant info about the ones having trouble. i’d say the trouble has increased over last couple months, before that it was unusual for me to get word of comments vanishing in midair.
thank you much for digging into this. some of the commenters are learning to save their comments and send directly to me, so i can safely post. but i hate that some spend time crafting beautiful thoughtful comments only to suffer the frustrations of being lost….
