Trouble with goodreads widget

Apologies if this is basic but I’m having issues with the goodreads 2013 reading challenge widget. Ive added it, but for some reason it doesn’t update when my tally on goodreads updates. Do I have to do something with the code or the widget that I’m using?

I see 53 books indicated in your widget, and when I click through your goodreads profile, it also shows 53 books. Is this the wrong number?
What number are you seeing when you look at your widget?

That’s because, that widget actually contains javascript coding. So the image will display, but it won’t be updated since javascript is automatically removed from our sites, as it is a security concern. The goodreads site does warn us that almost all of their widgets won’t work on sites like wordpress.com which disable javascript. I guess you could just update the widget yourself, by ‘resaving’ the widget, or getting the code every now and again.

mirimary – you see 53 since i manually updated the code yesterday when i saw that on goodreads i had 53 books and on my blog i only noted 52. i think that danielisreading summed it up for me that there’s no automatic way to do it i guess. if you have another suggestion since i know that other bloggers include the same link on their site, then i’d be open and happy to get any of those suggestions.
