Trouble with HTTP HEAD request
-
Hello,
I seem to be having a problem with trying to submit my podcast to itunes. I keep getting the error message “…hosted on a server that allows HTTP head requests.”
I don’t know how to fix this. Any solutions?
Thanks

Hey there! I know I’ve seen this kind of issue before with the cover art being too large. Have you tried using a smaller image for your cover art? I’ve heard 600×600 works well, as long as it’s under 500kB.
Let me know if this does the trick, or if we should troubleshoot further. Cheers!

You’re right– sorry about that. It looks like it has to be under 500kB though. Is your image larger than 1400×1400 and smaller than 500kB?

There’s a site called Podbase that checks your Podcast feed to make sure it has all the necessary information, tags, and setup. I plugged your site in and Podbase says there may be issues with the XML, cover art, iTunes category and metadata.
Here’s a link so you can see for yourself: https://podba.se/validate/?url=https://offtrackpodcast.com/

Sorry for the late reply! If I understand it correctly, the XML is basically the metadata that accompanies the audio file to make it comply with iTunes.
You may have seen it already, but check out this guide and just double-check your iTunes fields under Settings > Media in the Podcasting section.
If you have any trouble testing your feed or getting it to work after checking with that guide, just let me know and I’ll see if I can troubleshoot further.

Hi there,
Your image is too big. The image you have set as cover art is 3000×3000 pixels big. The instructions on the media settings page where you set that image shows the maximum size is 2048×2048 pixels big.
I don’t know where you got the 3000px number, but that doesn’t appear anywhere in our documentation or in the dashboard, and it is not correct.
Also note that after replacing the image with a smaller version it might take a while before the feed will validate with iTunes, as the current info could be cached on their end.
