Trouble with 'Send Email as'

  • Unknown's avatar

Hello, I am trying to use the gmail feature for ‘send email as’ and using the SMTP info for the (email visible only to moderators and staff) user. I have used every port and keep getting the error: ‘ Your other email provider is responding too slowly. Please try again later, or contact the administrator of your other domain for further information.’

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

The send email as feature in Gmail is for connecting a fully-hosted email account to your existing email account. That is not what you have with us.

What you have with us is email forwarding. That means if someone sends an email to one of your forwarding addresses you’ve set up, we just send it directly to your regular Gmail address. It never goes through an SMTP server with us, which is why you’re unable to connect to one.

To be able to send emails from any of the forwarding addresses, you need to set up an email alias instead, and Gmail only allows that if you buy a Google Apps email account from them. It used to be possible on regular Gmail accounts as well, but Google removed that feature about two years ago.
