Trouble with site pages

    I am having trouble with my site. I have tried several different templates, but my site always has a blog page, but I need a portfolio page. I am specifically using templates for portfolios and photography and yet it always shows as a blog page. Am I missing something? How can I make the image portfolio page that I need?

    Hey to create a portfolio page in wordpress is so simple. Just follow the steps below:

    Step-1: Log in and Go to dashboard.

    Step-2: Go to Page, then Add New.

    Step-3: Enter Title and Click on Add Mediafrom the top post option bar.

    Step-4: In the media page Click on Create Gallery.

    Step-5: Select the photos you want to add or Click Upload Files to add new.

    Step-6: After successful upload or select existing photo click on Create a New Gallery.

    Now Here you have to configure the gallery.

    Step-7: Look at your Right Side Menu Bar. You see Link to Attachment Page, Change it to None if you don’t want to link the photo.

    Step-8: Column – How many column you want for your photo? Select 3 or 4 for better result or you can use more.

    Step-9: Random Order – Check it if you want to random selection by wordpress.

    Step-10: Size – Choose the size for your photo. Use full size for better result. WordPress will resize as per its requirement.

    Step-11: Type – Choose a type for your gallery. You can select SlideShow if you want to show the photo as slide.

    Step-12: Now Click on the Insert Gallery.

    You are Done!!!

    The above option is just seems like portfolio.
    To create a actual portfolio Follow the steps:

    Step-1: Go to your dashboard > Settings > Writing.

    Step-2: At the below of the page you’ll find a check box named portfolio. Check That. Write the number box how many portfolio you want to show in a page. Write the number. And Save Changes.

    Step-3: After saving this will create a new menu “Portfolio” below the Page option on your Left Side Bar.

    Step-4: Go to portfolio > Add New.

    Step-5: Create your project. Same as creating a post.

    Step-6: Add Project Types and Project Tags. Same as category and tags.

    Step-7: Add featured image and also add excerpts which will show on portfolio. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Then Publish.

    Step-8: After creating some project, go to Page > Add New. or Posts > Add New. Where you want to show the portfolio.

    Step-9: Simply paste this shortcode in your visual editor `[portfolio]

    Step-10: Click on the publish button.

    You are all done!!!

    NOTE:

    • If you want to show some custom post use this shortcode: [portfolio display_types=true display_tags=PORTFOLIO TAG NAME include_type=ui-design,app-design columns=3 showposts=10 orderby=title]
    • Change the PORTFOLIO TAG NAME wih your tag. the Tag should be use as tag slug.
    • To find your tag slug Go to Portfolio > Project Tags.

    What is the dashboard? Is this something that can only be done if you pay for your domain?
