Trouble with transferring to Bluehost
-
A few days ago, I started a wordpress.com webpage and registered the domain hollowayleigh.com. After purchasing a new theme for WordPress, I discovered it was actually meant for wordpress.org. Naturally I say, “Okay. I’ll just switch over to wordpress.org so I can have more control over my website.” So, I signed up with Bluehost and updated my name servers…. but every time I try to log into the administration page, it redirects me to the dashboard at hollowayleigh.wordpress.com instead of allowing me to use wordpress.org for hollowayleigh.com. I’m not really sure how to proceed at this point, and I would appreciate some advice!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’ve already updated the name servers, and I’m unable to transfer my domain to Bluehost due to the fact it’s younger than 60 days. The trouble is that my administration page redirects to wordpress.com

This is not an instant process. Have 72 hours passed since you changed the name servers?
Have your cleared your browser cache?

I changed it only a few hours ago – so that may very well be the issue.
I suppose I thought I would have access to the wordpress dashboard after Bluehost installed it on to the website. It would certainly be a relief if time was the only problem

Hi there,
I checked your domain hollowayleigh.com and it’s correctly pointed to Bluehost. I’m also directed to the self-hosted site’s dashboard login page, rather than the WordPress.com site’s dashboard, when I try to visit it.
As timethief mentioned it can take up to 72 hours for domain changes like this to take full effect, and it usually takes the longest on a computer or ISP where you accessed the site before making the domain change. (That’s because your computer and ISP cache the domain settings and can take some time to update those settings after you change them.)
If more time passes and you’re still running into trouble with this, please let me know and I can investigate further. :)
