Trouble with unlocking Automattic
-
Hello! I recently cancelled a Premium plan and the domain to be under wordpress, to trasnfer to Bluehost. However, Bluehost is saying that I need to unlock the domain and disable the domain privacy from current registrar and it says its from Automattic. Because I cancelled, I can’t find it in my account settings. Please advise. Thank you so much! – Christine

Hi –
It looks like you transferred christineoh.com in to WordPress.com. We took over as the domain registrar. It’s not possible to transfer this domain again, for 60 days. That’s not our policy but rather an ICANN regulation that all domain registrars have to abide by.
So, this is what we can do.
I will restore the domain to your account now so you don’t lose it through the expiration process. We remain the domain registrar. You can point it to blue host by simply editing the DNS records through your WordPress.com account. That points the site to blue host.

Ah thank you so much! I don’t see christineoh.com in my account as of right now but will check again later. Unfortunate that it’s 60 days but oh well, that was on me. Thanks again!

We’ll still need payment for the domain since it was originally refunded. :)
I have sent the $18 request to the email address on your account.
Please let us know when that has been paid, and we’ll return the domain to your account.
This is time-sensitive, as there is a 5-day grace period after domain cancel, of which there are 4 days left. After that, we cannot guarantee you’ll be able to re-register the domain.

The domain is restored. Can you double check that it’s visible under My Sites tab in your dashboard?

Okay perfect, it shows and I just changed the name servers to point to bluehost. Thanks!

So to confirm, I can’t transfer it to bluehost until November 12th, 2019, 60 days from now, correct?
