Trouble with "Untitled" theme slider

I cannot get the slider to show on Untitled theme; I have read and followed the posted instructions for getting this to work but it still does not show up.

It helped a little bit to help me understand a little more about posts but the issue in this thread is the exact opposite of my issue. My regular posts show up but the ones I have “tagged” for the slider don’t show up at all, not even as a regular post. I went to settings—->reading—->featured content—->I then put “featured” into the tag name but when I create a post and tag it with featured the only thing unusual that happens is the post no longer appears anywhere on the site (the user side of the site, can still find it through dashboard so I know it’s there). Either way, no slider appears and no picture at all appears.

Looks like I just figured it out, instead of inserting the image like I would in a normal post I scrolled down and there’s a section called “featured image”. It worked once I loaded the image there. Thanks!
